The following explains how publishers can add IRIS.TV data to their OTTera channels.
There are 5 steps to add IRIS.TV data to channels powered by OTTera:
Providing video data to IRIS.TV via an OTTera content feed
Adding IRIS.TV data to each video in the OTTera platform
Passing IRIS.TV data into the OTTera SSAI
Passing IRIS.TV data to ad servers partners
- Passing IRIS.TV data to SSP partners
Step 1: Pulling video data from OTTera:
IRIS.TV will receive the following from OTTera for any new publisher onboard:
URL to the content feed
Token to authorize the client feed. The token should be set to never expire.
Step 2: Passing IRIS.TV data back to OTTera:
OTTera has a central integration with the IRIS.TV Context API enabling all OTTera publishers to retrieve IRIS.TV data seamlessly, with no development work needed.
Once step 1 above is complete, IRIS.TV will provide a, IRIS.TV client_token to OTTera to authenticate the publishers account in the IRIS.TV platform. OTTera will use the Context API with the client_token to pull the IRIS_ID (ex: iris_2hd85jf93or95be) and encoded segments (ex: ic_123456) to the OTTera CMS for each video IRIS.TV has segmented.
Step 3: OTTera HLS passing IRIS.TV data to the SSAI:
Once the IRIS.TV data has been pulled into the OTTer platform, OTTera will ensure they are passed through the manifest at the time of playback to their SSAI.
Step 4: OTTera SSAI passing IRIS.TV data to the ad server:
Once the segments are in the SSAI they will be passed to the ad server via two custom macros that will be added to the ad tag by OTTera.
Step 5: Passing IRIS.TV data to the SSPs:
Once the IRIS.TV data has been passed to the ad server the publisher, distributor and OTTera will need to update their connection with each SSP per our normal process/steps for each SSP. See here for further documentation.
